Rev. Scott began his ministry here at Accotink UU Church on August 15, 2008. Videos and Podcasts of his sermons at AUUC.
Reverend Scott Sammler-Michael was born in Jacksonville, Florida; he grew up in Bel Air, Maryland. Reverend Scott earned his Masters of Divinity at Meadville Lombard Theological School, the Unitarian Universalist seminary affiliated with the University of Chicago.
There he received many awards, including the Jenkin Lloyd Jones Scholarship, the Atherton Scholarship, and the Von Ogden Vogt Scholarship for liturgical studies. Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from UMBC and a Masters in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College, Annapolis. He was ordained by the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Harford County, in Churchville, Maryland. In July 2007, Scott founded TUUL-Belt Ministries, a new practical ministry of devoted UU’s with professional construction experience trained to respond to domestic crises like Hurricane Katrina and to assist in long-term rebuilding efforts. Scott is married to Rev. Anya Sammler-Michael, the minister to the Unitarian Universalists of Sterling, in Sterling, Virginia.
