To show our congregation’s position on an important social issue of the day, the Social Justice Committee (SJC) occasionally proposes that AUUC take a public stand on the issue. We do this by approving a Statement of Conscience, a document that outlines what we think about the issue from a moral viewpoint.  In accordance with our Policy for Taking a Stand on an Issue, 80% of the members and proxies present must approve the statement. If the statement is approved, it will be posted on our website and can be cited by our minister as proof of our congregation’s moral position on this issue.
