AUUC and Immigration Issues
Statement of Conscience on Immigration as a Moral Issue
Revised and accepted 17 April 2011
Whereas the United States has a responsibility to control immigration as one aspect of its obligation to provide security to its citizens and foster economic well-being, Whereas there are millions of undocumented immigrants residing within U.S. borders without a path to citizenship due to the lack of a comprehensive immigration system, Whereas families are torn apart through immigration processing backlogs, detentions and deportations, Last Updated (Friday, 30 December 2011 20:57) Marriage Equality Now
On March 14, 2010, the week after same gender couples could begin applying for marriage licences in Washington DC, Rev. Scott Sammler-Michael presented a sermon on Marriage Equality.
The most pervasive myth about marriage is that it has always been just one thing, and has always been central to Christianity. Neither of these are true. Marriage has undergone an evolution that mirrors humankind's own expanding understanding of human freedom and dignity. Since Marriage between two people is a basic civil right, it should not be limited or restrained by the government empowered to protect us all whether by legislation, referendum, nor jurisprudence.
